Servicing the Tokyo & Chiba LD Communities Since 2012
Book a ConsultationI provide dedicated, 1:1 private tutoring for learners with dyslexia and other literacy-based challenges. My goal is to transform the frustration often associated with reading and writing into a journey of confidence, self-reliance, and academic success.
Every student's brain works differently, and for a dyslexic learner, traditional classroom methods can feel like a barrier. I specialize in breaking down those barriers through structured, multisensory learning.
Lived Experience + Professional Expertise: Based in Chiba and serving the Tokyo area, I bring a unique perspective to my tutoring: I am dyslexic myself.
Understanding firsthand the specific hurdles neurodivergent learners face allows me to approach every student with deep empathy, patience, and absolute confidence in their ability to thrive.
My methodology is rooted in proven frameworks including the Orton-Gillingham approach and the Alpha to Omega program. I hold specialist qualifications in literacy support from Dyslexia Action and trained in the UK. As an independent educator, I provide a completely personalized experience tailored to your child's specific pace.
Rather than relying on rote memorization or standard school reading lists, lessons are built around research-backed, structured literacy interventions designed specifically for neurodivergent learners.
Orton-Gillingham (OG) is the gold standard for dyslexia intervention. It focuses on explicitly teaching the connections between letters and sounds using simultaneous visual, auditory, and kinesthetic pathways.
Developed specifically for specialist literacy educators, Alpha to Omega is a highly systematic, step-by-step program that breaks down English spelling and reading patterns into manageable, logical building blocks.
Hands-on & Engaging Lessons: Sessions are far from dry lectures. By combining these rigorous frameworks with strategy-based card games, visual phonics cues, and interactive tasks, learning remains fun, encouraging, and stress-free.
“When she started taking lessons with Timo, she could only read a handful of English words and couldn’t write at all... She managed to graduate from high school with good grades and attained a sufficient TOEIC score to enter college.”
“Timo Paul taught my daughter, from her last year of elementary school until she finished high school this year. She has dyslexia, dyscalculia and ADHD and has always found school to be a great struggle.”
“Over the years she spent with Timo, she made steady progress and gained in confidence. She finds learning to be impossible if she doesn’t feel comfortable with the teacher, and the reason she did so well under Timo’s tutelage is the bond of trust that he patiently fostered with her.”
“Generally, she feels more comfortable with female teachers, but Timo is definitely the teacher that she came to trust most throughout her school days. She would even consult with Timo about her future life plans and computer games.”
“It’s fair to say that English reading comprehension and writing will never be things that she enjoys, but she managed to graduate from high school with good grades and attained a sufficient TOEIC score to enter college. I honestly don’t think that she would have achieved either without Timo’s support.”
"Timo is an exceptionally talented and thorough tutor. Since beginning our sessions, our son has reached on-level reading skills and is showing significant progress in his written expression."
"We have seen steady and heartening progress in our son's literacy. Timo's program is highly structured yet flexible enough to be adjusted to our child's individual pace."
